This book is intended as a textbook for engineering students. Its coverage is based on the assumption that the reader is familiar with basic engineering principles at a level of at least upper undergraduate as taught in U.S. universities. The one chapter (Chapter 2) dealing with regulations is written for readers in the U.S., although the editors believe that readers from other nations may also find it beneficial.
