The scope of this document is to identify the required features and capabilities for stand-alone routers and hosts with support for IPv6 and related necessary protocols. These requirements are referenced to available technical standards such as RFCs. “IPv6” is the upgraded Internet addressing system that will be used for the billions of devices in the Internet of Things. The IPv6 Working Group of CEA’s Consumer Electronics Networking Committee developed CEA-2048, Host and Router Profiles for IPv6, to define the technical requirements for IPv6-enabled connected devices and home routers. This specification will help members target the right features for IPv6 compatibility.
