These requirements cover ties, clamps, ducts, mounting blocks, and other associated mounting hardware used for bundling, positioning, securing, or supporting cable, wire, and wiring systems, to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
These requirements do not cover coated electrical sleeving or extruded insulating tubing. These products are covered under the Standard for Coated Electrical Sleeving, UL 1441 and the Standard for Extruded Insulating Tubing, UL 224 , respectively.
These requirements do not cover woven flexible nonmetallic tubing (fiber loom) to be employed as mechanical protection for insulated wires in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) , ANSI/NFPA 70 .
Any protection or insulation that is provided by the mechanical or electrical enclosure of the device is not covered by these requirements.
These requirements do not cover raceways, which are covered by the National Electrical Code (NEC) , ANSI/NFPA 70 .
These requirements do not cover devices intended for use with or as insulation for uninsulated parts.
A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or different from those covered by the requirements in this standard, and that involves a risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-product requirements as determined necessary to maintain the acceptable level of safety as originally anticipated by the intent of this standard. A product whose features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems conflict with specific requirements or provisions of this standard cannot be judged to comply with this standard. Where considered appropriate, revision of requirements shall be proposed and adopted in conformance with the methods employed for development, revision, and implementation of this standard.
