Futurebus+ provides a rich set of features that, when used properly, allows the designer to construct systems for a broad range of applications. Futurebus+ can be applied to general purpose systems whose sizes range from mainframes to the desktop. In addition, Futurebus+ has unique features that are expected to support special purpose applications such as real-time control, high-reliability, high-availability systems, and secure computing.
