1.1
This Standard provides methods for evaluating the performance, based on destructive testing, of rollover protec tive structures (ROPS) for wheeled agricultural tractors with a mass greater than 800 kg. It may also be used as an alternative to CSA Standard B352.2 for testing ROPS on general- purpose industrial tractors.
1.2
ROPS meeting the requirements of International Standard ISO 5700 (static test) or ISO 3463 (dynamic test) or SAE Standard 2194 also meet the requirements of this Standard, provided the general requirements as specified in CSA Standard B352.0 are also met.
1.3
Of the two test options presented, the dynamic test applies only to tractors with mass ranging from 800 to 6000 kg, while the static test may be used for tractors with mass from 800 to 15000 kg. The static test may, also, be used on an interim basis for tractors with mass greater than 15 000 kg until such time that experience is gained for development of a new edition of this Standard with increased mass limits.
1.4
The minimum track width of the rear wheels of tractors tested according to this standard should be greater than 1150 mm. It is recognized that there are tractor designs (eg, lawn tractors, narrow vineyard tractors, low-profile tractors used in low buildings, orchard tractors, stilt tractors, and certain forestry tractors) for which this Standard may not be appropriate. This Standard or CSA Standard B352 may be used on an interim basis for such tractors until appropriate Standards are developed.
1.5
Definitions of terms used in this Standard are given in CSA Standa rd B352.0.
